Don't you think that, as we have to suscribe an account to see the hole forum, some new members just created their account, to have an idea of what we are talking about in here, and just went away because they weren't that much interested by this forum ?

In fact, I have some friends who moderate another forum, and they have the same question. There are a lot of accounts with 0 post. Just because if you want to see what is written inside the forum, you have to suscribe...

Thats a good point Deck but without mentioning names I see a lot of people logging in regularly so they are active members reading the forums on a regular basis but never post - too shy lol!

It would simply be nice to have some new people on here instead of the regulars even if its non Gilmour related and just talked about guitars, soccer etc

I think Martin is intimidating everyone with his stormtrooper avatar.

Kidding aside, this group grows more and more every week. I haven't seen a lot of new people post, hopefully they come around and just post!

Maybe we should give them more incentive. Like with every first post mud has to send them a case of beer. Hey.... speaking of which, I never recieved the case of beer Mud said I won in the chat room! :x

I think we should find a way to let this great forum staying 'close'. I mean, look on the memberlist...less and less people are filling in their 'information'. Of course, some things need to be private. But it's always nice to know which interest the person you're talking to has and from which country is :) just a matter of globalisation....you TAKE part of the forum, and not for just getting to know one thing...

Otherwise everything will be so onpersonal...and in the end maybe not that friendly...guys share your opinions and interests...

But maybe I'm just crazy.

There is no dark side of the Moon really... matter of fact it's all dark

No, you're not. Your idea is good but it'll be hard to make it real :(
However, I hope that after seeing those posts some of our users will fill the profile data...

Hey everyone. I'm new here. I'm not an expert on Dave's rig, but I'd like to be. I'm just starting my Gilmour rig, and my own for that matter. I signed up here and enjoy just reading through posts and basking in the knowledge. I learned a ton from Gilmourish and Tone From Heaven and now I've learned a lot here. It's a great resource. I make posts when I've got something worth saying, but a lot of the time I'm just poking my head in and letting the knowledge sink in. I enjoy seeing everyone's boards and just reading about effects, guitars, amps and Gilmour as much as I can, so naturally I'm loving this place, whether my post count shows it or not  .

welcome to the site Exotic Bird. Anything that's random should just go into the "Tavern"

Posted: Thu Feb 26, 2009 3:30 am   Hello

Although I have already made a few posts I thought this would be a good thread to use to introduce myself.

I go by Krinkle (my childhood nickname) on this forum and all of the others I am a part of, but my real name is Darrin. I was born in Newfoundland on the east coast of Canada, but now live in Pickering, Ontario (8 years now), just outside of the Toronto city limits on the east end.

I played in full time bands until I was 24, then went back to college to study electronics. I now have a career as an Electronic Engineering Technologist, working at a company that integrates test equipment.

Since I learnt about electronics I have spent far too much time building equipment and not nearly enough time playing. I've built a handful of tube amps, the better ones being a killer Metroamp kit (1968 12xxx series Marshall SLP clone) and three London Power "Standard"s (1 each for me, my Brother, and my best friend) from TUT5. The Standard has Power Scaling which can be a little tricky to put in an amp properly, but it really does work.

It's good to be here, I've read a LOT of the posts, man you guys have some good gear, some good tones, and some good ears. If there is anybody on the forum who's nearby, let me know if you would like to meet to check out amps/guitars, etc. My guitars at the moment are a 94 Les Paul Standard, a 2007 Fender American Strat with an SSL-5 in the bridge position, a 2000 Peavey EVH Wolfgang, and a 1978 Fender Tele Custom.

I read earlier in the thread that new members weren't posting much. I plan on putting in my share. I need some help as I'm going to build a DR504. I know that you guys know the goods, I just need your opinion on stuff, please respond to my posts if you have any input at all.

Oh, by the way, I AM a Gilmour freak. I saw the MLOR and the Division Bell tour in Toronto in the 80's and 90's. I'll never forget my nephew joking as I was going to the MLOR show, calling the band dinosaurs. I came away thinking that of all of the MANY bands and shows I had seen, EVERYBODY could have learnt quite a bit about sound, songwriting, and playing from those dinosaurs!

I did pull a real brain fart and missed the Massey Hall (great venue for bands in Toronto) Show for OAI, couldn't get tickets. One of the stupid salesguys at work went and is still bugging me about it. Thankfully the age of DVD's saved my ass and I can see over and over what I missed.
